Summary
“I need a favor.” Ardent added, as he was about to get back to it.
He leaned back, gun forgotten.
“Is that right?” Usually, he was the one weaseling favors out of them. But hell, if she was just gonna out and toss him a freebie- “n' how many does that bring you up to?”
Ardent blew a raspberry. “Bah, who knows. You game or not?”
“Not saying jack to shit until I know what I’m playing.” Quincy said, folding his arms. “As much as I like lordin’ all these IOUs over your head, ‘m not stupid n' you’re stallin’. Spill it.”
“I want to have sex.” Ardent said, with all the warning of a swift and sudden punch to the gut.

Summary
But Ardent—Ardent was something else. A soldier too, but one who read all the manuals and did all the tutorials and got all the upgrades and then learned how to hack into the source code to figure out all the enemy NPCs health values and damage vulnerabilities. It made Arthur look like he was jiggling his power cable to lag-switch and failing.
It couldn't have been more then twenty seconds before Arthur hit the ground, hard enough that Amir winced before he remembered their techrot infused bodies shrugged that damage off like it was nothing now.
Ardent just stood there, boot to Arthur's chest. Round two to player one.
“Hot stuff, innit.”

Summary
It wasn’t often that Ardent spared time away from the Höllvanian time loop like this. Every second away left them more restless then usual. Anxious, perhaps. But these check-ins with their future half were necessary. They needed stuff. Juno wanted stuff. They traded.
The items Ardent brought from the past were almost always mundane in variety. Children craved novelty items, like leaded pencils and Chugging Along six packs. Ardent had bartered a couple On-Lyne CDs from Aoi this time around, plus one limited edition On-Lyne floof—which had immediately found its way into the jaws of Juno’s terrifying Helminth charger.
Ardent was going to refrain from mentioning that to Aoi.
