Summary
Slowly, hesitantly, though for an entirely different reason than Murray's own hesitation, Azune lifts Bolaire from his latest actor.
When Bolaire is next conscious enough to remember he exists, time has passed. Not much, but Murray and Azune have clearly been arguing.
Bolaire takes quick stock of his actor, as he always does.No.
He takes quick stock of Hal, because Hal has never been just another actor.

Summary
He kisses Pin on his adorable fuzzy forehead. "Let's go hang out in the pantry while we check if I decompose, Pincushion."
"And also what the hell we're going to do about that if it turns out I do," he declares to the adorable, empty headed undead critter. He scowls at his fox in sudden realisation, dangling him like Simba from that old play.
"How do you not decompose, you feral little gremlin, you? You're just as undead as I am!" He complains to a chorus of wheezing from Halandil and mildly alarming giggling from Bolaire as he slips out of the living room and into the kitchen to hunt down the Lloy family's pantry, eat their snacks, and note down how his undead body reacts to those snacks.
Occtis is going to actually kill someone if it turns out that the answer is badly.Series

He needs to come up with a nickname for his peer that isn't dead kid. Because even Julien has lines.
Wizard? Too formal.
Necromancer? Same pitfalls as Tachonis.
Fox boy?....
Fox boy it is.
No one has ever accused Julien Davinos of being particularly imaginative.Series

Summary
The first time it happens, there is a lot of violent swearing on Murray's end, and something approaching terror on Bolaire's.
And, oh, isn't it awful? Isn't it awful, Bolaire?
That the adrenaline sings through the weapons of war, the pair of them, rusted and blunt but still weapons at the end of the day.The mask in his hands is cool and solid. He isn't sure how Bolaire is so expressive, in that case, but puts it down to magic and moves on.
He allows himself but a moment to be not normal about it, and he presses a kiss to Bolaire's forehead.
One heartbeat.
Two heartbeats.
Move on.By this point, they have it down to a T.
Hal has already dropped to his knees next to their fool warlock in preparation to grab Bolaire when his actor fails him.
But...
Well.Occtis has just crested over the hill.
Thimble is flying towards them full tilt.
And the body they believe to be Bolaire Lathalia is bleeding out on the ground.Murray drops to her knees opposite Hal and wails.

Summary
Julien turns to her. Braces himself.
"No," he breathes. He thinks he might be screaming.
He isn't sure he cares. It burns.
White hot agony lances through his body, buckles his knees, carves it's way into that place slightly outside of this Plane where his wings will never again grow, and he crumples.Series

Summary
When Julien and Aranessa were children, and the the doors to Faerie were still wide open, they would change their faces as often and as easily as their clothes.
Aranessa was always the one who came up with the people, while Julien was much more suited to wearing them. And then, one day, it took effort. It took forethought.
The doors to Faerie were closed, and they took many things home with them. They left far more behind.

Summary
"This might be one of the very, very few times it would ever be advisable to give your name away to the fae, fox boy," Julien muses idly where they're collapsed around the campfire.
"Oh, not just to any passing faerie, of course," he hurries to add at Thaisha's smouldering rage. "No, no, that wouldn't do at all. What if you needed it back for something?"
"No," he continues, "you'd need to be sure to meet up regularly. Perhaps simply travel with them."
Lady Aranessa buries her head in her hands.Now. Occtis Tachonis isn't the best with people, but even he can tell something's off here.
Julien is... strangely insistent. Almost desperate. He's been twitchy all day, and particularly keen to stray from the paths. He's kept half an eye on Vaelus the entire time, and even now is quietly watching her. Or, more accurately, Occtis supposes, the entirety of her iron armour. All textbook signs of one of the more Unseelie faerie having foregone their instincts for just a little too long.

Summary
"You cannot rely on disguise self forever, fox boy," comes the muttered.... concern is perhaps too generous a term for Julien Davinos.
"Yeah, well, I don't see you coming up with anything better," he grumbles, before recalling that this is the man with the very sharp sword and who hates his family's guts.
He backtracks. "I just meant- I know I can't keep this up, I just- I don't think Thaisha or Vaelus could learn how to do it if they tried, and-"
His lip curls into something too bitter to be a smile. "Sorcery," he gets out, only lightly venomously, "is instinctive. You know the spell, or you do not. You cannot copy it off someone else."The least wanted son of the House of Tachonis - the wizard fuck up of their illustrious bloodline - knows this truth well.
He very carefully does not think about that night so many years ago.Series
