Kaiser is unstoppable on the field, untouchable, the emperor everyone fears—and Ness is the dog who follows, who fetches water, who smiles even when called slow, who would tear out someone’s throat if Kaiser asked.
But Ness would bite Kaiser, too.
And maybe Kaiser would let him.
There’s something rotten in the way Ness craves him, the way he imagines blood and teeth, the way he wants to taste the emperor’s weakness. There’s something monstrous in the way Kaiser needs to win, to consume the world until nothing else exists but him on the throne.
