And gods in their bloody graveyards, that part sure rings true. There is no one less like Kattigan Vale than Julien fucking Davinos.

Kattigan watches it happen in slow motion. It’s like a runaway cart crashing into a street vendor, or a lone deer stumbling into a wolf pack’s hunting grounds. It’s a disaster that cannot be stopped as he watches it. All he can do is haul Tyranny out of the way and snatch Thimble from the air to keep her from flying into the cloud of dust that he knows is about to disperse from the patch of flowers that Wicander fucking Halovar has just stumbled his way through.
“Do not move,” Kattigan snaps as Wick tries to join them. Wick goes still, mouth agape, still unused to people demanding anything of him. Spoiled little rich boy, Kattigan thinks, of course this would happen to him.In which Wick gets sex pollened, and Kattigan lends a hand.

On a surface level, it still deeply repulses him. The heavy tang of metal in his mouth, viscous and congealed as it sticks to his gums, seeps between his teeth.
Like this, however, he hardly even notices. Blood becomes a different kind of trivial necessity, something which he himself no longer has, and thus, simply has to get from somewhere else.
