Mike tries to make his relationship with Rachel work while Harvey watches how unhappy he is. Eventually, Mike realizes it, too. Harvey also works through why all of his past relationships failed, and Mike thinks about his parents' relationship with him and each other before they died. This is very introspective on both Mike's and Harvey's end. FYI: This is pretty anti-Rachel.

For some reason, maybe due to a case or divine Christmas intervention, Donna and Harvey end up taking in a rescue dog during S9. Donna starts to bond with the dog, but Harvey is adamant against keeping it (even though he's secretly falling in love, too). Then the dog saves Donna. Maybe attacks a mugger or intruder, or alerts them to a fire... but after that, Harvey refuses to give the dog up. Bonus points for any Mike/pup references!
