Hope noted the surprised look on Toriel's face and the nervous guilty anxiety she could feel coming off of Sans. Toriel looked from her to Sans then back again. It was hard to decipher what exactly the goat woman was thinking. She had looked shocked before but that had slowly shifted to suspicion. She closed the door and turned to face them both folding her arms over her chest.
"She does not know?" She asked like it was a mild question. But San's head ducked down further into his clothes. Unperturbed Toriel pushed on. "How much time has passed since you started bonding?" Her arms folded over her chest and she watched Sans like a hawk. Curious about that as well Hope stared at Sans. His emotions were bouncing off of her and making a giant knot form in her stomach. Sans shifted uncomfortably unable to look at either of them.

So far (at 19 chapters), this is a real cute story focusing on the developing friendship (and crush) between Katara and Zuko. Generally, it's very warm and kid friendly. Katara and Zuko live together in the palace and get up to mischief while Iroh hurries after them and tries to protect Katara.
Some darker themes are hinted at, but not explored. Perhaps the author intends to, but for now this is mostly light hearted fun with a very optimistic outlook on their situation. Not that there is anything wrong with that! Perfect for when you want to forget the troubles of the real world and the tone mostly lines up with Avatar in the first season (and potentially the second).
The writing is good and the author has a knack for descriptions.
My biggest issue with the fic is that the plot is really pushed to the side to make way for Katara and Zuko. I love their interactions, but I would have appreciated the feeling of building towards something. Instead of constantly wondering when the hammer will drop... because it should, right?
But if you like Avatar (and who doesn't?), I recommend giving it a shot.
