He doesn’t know if he’s strong enough to know for certain.
“Ah, well. It could be coming,” she adds, and Zayn shrugs. She’s silent for another moment, before quietly adding, “You could pick him, you know.” She sounds thoughtful, distant even. Zayn wonders what she’s thinking about, what she’s remembering. “If you want to that is. I know you’ve not been looking for your mate Zayn, but maybe this was what you needed. Maybe you needed your mate to find you.”

Tonight is such a cliché, if Niall really thinks about it. He didn’t even need to be convinced, he offered it himself. To Harry, the possibly English vampire in all black. He knows Zayn is going to cringe hard when he’s telling him about this later, but Niall doesn’t care. Zayn’s judgement usually grounds him, makes him settle into doing less crazy things.
Well, it didn’t work tonight, that’s for sure, and when Niall looks back, he’s met by black eyes, hungrily staring him up and down. That’s crazy. That’s dangerous. It’s a heady feeling and Niall loves it.
(Or: Harry happens to be a shy vampire but that’s okay, Niall is able to read him like an open book.)

“You’re not allowed to swim here,” Zayn says, one of his eyes squinted shut so he can see properly.
The swimmer is cute, arguably. His hair is damp and brushed out of his face, but Zayn can see the curls, the twisting from where it rests on his shoulders. His eyes are green and shining, staring up at Zayn in curiosity, almost sparkling in the sunlight. Zayn can’t see below his shoulders, but there is a faint trace of ink lingering around his collarbones.
He’s not saying anything, just grinning at Zayn from his place in the water.
“Did you not hear me? You can’t swim here. It’s not open to the public.”
The swimmer wrinkles his nose at him, flicking some of the curls out of his eyes. “I can swim anywhere,” he says, his voice deep and slow.
Or the one where Harry is a merman that's fascinated with Zayn.
