He turned back to the newcomer: she was staring at him with an annoyed look on her that made him instinctively raise his hackles. She didn't smell wrong, though, so there was that, at least. Maybe she didn't like other kids?
“What is he doing here?”
It wasn't often that Ranpo-kun got confused, but he tilted his head.
“Ah?”
“What is he? Eight?” She asked “Why is a child here?”
“Oi! I'm eleven, you fucker! What the hell?”
“You're a baby! What are you doing, working for them?”
“Working- I fucking wish I was! I live here! What the hell is your problem with me?!”
“Enough!”
Fukuzawa-san seldom raised his voice but, when he did, everybody automatically stopped whatever they were doing to piss him off. They fell silent.
He got up and stared them both down which, unfair, Chuuya thought. He hadn't been the one starting this bullshit.
(Or: when Chuuya met Yosano, at eleven, they didn't exactly start out on the right foot. He couldn't have imagined that he was about to get the last piece of his family - and more headaches that he could count.)

Фукудзава-сан редко повышал голос, но когда он это делал, все автоматически прекращали свои действия, чтобы не злить его. Они замолчали.
Он встал и пристально посмотрел на них обоих, что было несправедливо, подумал Чуя. Ведь не он начал это дерьмо.
Или: Когда Чуя, в одиннадцать лет, познакомился с Йосано, у них все началось не совсем гладко. Он и представить себе не мог, что скоро обретет последний кусочек своей семьи - и еще больше головной боли, чем можно было предположить.
