Summary
Set in Season 2, after Will's release from the BSHCI. Hannibal has fallen into a complacent routine of lying to absolutely everyone about his feelings for Will, but his ability to deceive himself is quickly wearing thin. Does Will feel the same, and can Hannibal fight past his own ridiculousness long enough to find out?

Picking up from the end of Season 2 episode 08, Will's POV.
Hannibal stops Will from killing Clark Ingram. As Will listens to Hannibal whispering through the chrysalis, his empathy connects the dots and he finally understands what motivates the doctor.
This changes everything.

Summary
Will Graham’s mind is a closed-off fort, hewn from unyielding bone and trained to resist every influence but that which he invites himself. And he will not invite Hannibal into that arena, of that he is already sure. Too many questing hands have felt for the latch of the door into his mind, inquisitive and invasive, and any influence on his part would be detected immediately.
But there remains the question of his body.
Will is starved for touch. Hannibal decides to sate him.

Summary
Will may not have Hannibal’s gift for identifying scent, but if he’d learned anything from having him in his head, it’s that gifts are just curses lying in wait for the right person to wield them. And if this is to be a game, then what he’s about to do will bend the rules if it doesn’t break them entirely.
