Summary

Holy fucking shit, does this hit perfectly. One of the best in-character fics for radioapple, which is actually a rather difficult feat so fuck yeah to the author for that.
Read for the weightless sensation of falling; of biting into a crisp apple that's just on the far side of too sour.

"Ever since Damianos of Akielos met my brother on the field at Marlas and cut him down, I have been alone."

Damen, still a slave, is falling in love with Laurent, and, against all of his instincts, Laurent is falling in love with him too. Unfortunately, they don't know how to deal with that at all. There's lots of staring and general pining.
This is my own recreation of the time after Nesson-Eloy, because I will never be over the two of them trying to figure out who they are to each other. It takes the place of the last half of Prince's Gambit and all of Kings Rising, so although there are similar events, the story unravels differently.

I first found this fic years ago, literally right before the pandemic. Right before things turned sideways and I had to put it down because it wasnt finished yet and I wanted to give it a proper read once it was finished.
I gave it a bookmark, a true, proper-on-my-browser-bar bookmark and let it settle. Reading this fic now, it’s a shifting feeling to see how well loved this fic is, which it truly deserves.
Read for the feeling of what a sea prune must taste like: a crisp burst of joy once you sink your teeth into the edges.
