Yor finished the dishes and continued humming as she came to sit next to him with a freshly-brewed cup of tea. She blew lightly on it, and Twilight’s eyes flicked to her face. There. It happened again! he thought, flipping to the next page while covertly watching Yor’s face. His chest, particularly the region between his third and fourth ribs, had twinged again, and Twilight found annoyingly that he could not match the symptom to any of the ones he’d felt before.
Later, in the kitchen, he glanced back around the corner and saw Yor sitting with her legs tucked under her, helping Anya fix the static.
Again his chest panged, almost like it was expanding. Cardiac arrest? No. Not quite. It was something different, and though it seemed urgent, he didn’t want to worry his family.Fake family.
For the sake of the mission, obviously.

When Loid adopted Anya and they became the Forgers, he made sure that the families with the surnames Williams, Levski, Klein, and Roche that were most likely to adopt were either no longer in Berlint or at least lived in or worked on the other side of the city. For the ones that were too close for his liking, he made sure to keep Anya away from any neighborhoods or establishments that would increase the chance of a run-in. In a city of almost 1.3 million people, there was a very small chance that the Forgers would run into any of them by happenstance. It was such a small chance that Loid had discounted the possibility after doing the math.
Perhaps that chance hadn’t been small enough.

Utahime shows up four hours later, a bag full of medicine in one hand and a grimace on her face. “I don’t understand why you took these kids in if you can’t even handle them when they get a little sick.” She starts to lecture him immediately, and Satoru bites his tongue to keep from laughing. She’s cute when she’s judging all of his life choices.
“Because I’m sick too,” he replies, his tongue stumbling over the words, his stuffy nose making it stick to the roof of his mouth.
“Oh my god,” Utahime answers. She blinks, and then reaches out to put her hand on Satoru’s forehead. “Gojo, you’re burning up.”
He smiles, letting Utahime shuffle him over to the couch to get him some medicine.
