"You liked them, didn't you?" Alex asks, wiggling his eyebrows.
Henry doesn't answer, but the truth is written all over his face.
"—and then, that bloody windbreaker that became transparent and stuck to your skin like it was a part of you. It's clear to everyone that you are toned and lean; you don't have to advertise it, you know?" Henry says, huffing. "It was like a blasted neon sign screaming Have you seen my sweaty chest? Do you want to lick it?
"And did you…want to…lick it?" Alex asks as he steps onto Henry's lap in the armchair. He punctuates his question as he settles each leg around Henry's, the armchair large enough to hold them both comfortably.
Or: Alex's choice of running clothes makes Henry jealous and possessive. The only obvious solution is for him to make sure Alex knows who he belongs to.

"So," Henry says as Alex's brain makes a valiant effort to reboot because he's staring at Henry fucking Fox, the man he has spent the better part of a decade staring at through a small author's photo. It doesn't even begin to do him justice and he's only now fully realising it, "your daughter is a fan of my work?"
"Huge," Alex chokes out, struggling to not make a fool out of himself. "Dragged me here."
Henry raises an eyebrow, face utterly amused as he says, "Really? Because I could have sworn I just heard her tell Issa that her 'lame dad' forced her to come here."
"Huh,”Alex says, "Kids, am I right?"
Alex's daughter is growing up, a fact he is entirely not okay with.
She's becoming a teenager, thinks he's the most boring, lamest dude alive and wants nothing to do with the traditions they had while she was growing up - especially reading Henry Fox's books.
But when Henry Fox begins a reading programme at their local library, she is sat in the front row. Because she wants to be, not because Alex is forcing her. Not because Alex is slightly in love with a man he's never met, the first person to actually see him.

Summary
Ilya’s hand wraps around his bare wrist and squeezes. Shane barely stops himself from collapsing to his knees.
The pressure lights up every receptor of his touch-starved nervous system, wrenching a small, pained noise from the back of his throat. Every muted sensation comes flooding back so intensely that it almost hurts. He needs Ilya to hold him down until there’s nothing inside him but quiet. He wants to sink into him and disappear.
It takes Shane an entire beat to remember where they are. Fighting against the fog in his mind, he manages to drag his gaze up to meet Ilya’s.
There’s a slow-dawning horror and understanding on Ilya’s face.

“Alright sweetheart, we’re going to get you taken care of, okay?”
Henry was thankful his back was to the patient. It gave him a moment to close his eyes, to take a deep, calming breath. He was no use to this person if he wasn’t in control of himself. One more steadying breath as he snapped on his gloves, and he turned to face the bed.
He wished that it was different. That a man this strong, strong enough to be awake through such disaster, could live.
But Alex had called him “sweetheart”. And every single doctor and nurse in that bay knew what it meant when the best trauma surgeon in the state put on that soothing voice and called a patient “sweetheart”.

3 times Alex called a patient "sweetheart" and 1 time someone called Alex "sweetheart"
