“He'd appreciate the effort,” Tommy says softly, and Evan's shoulders hitch as he lets out a quick, quiet little laugh. “But he wouldn't want you to torture yourself.”
“I don't know what else to do.”
Tommy hugs him tighter, and Evan's arms squeeze him with equal strength. “This, to start.”

Summary
Buck moves in on a Saturday. It’s a small house, but that’s okay. With each successive move Buck had gotten rid of more and more belongings. He doesn’t have much left at this point.
Eddie helps him move boxes and furniture from storage to his truck and from his truck into his new house. With a lunch break, the entire process only takes three hours. It’s all a bit anticlimactic. Eddie offers to help him unpack, since they have so much time, but the idea settles too heavy in Buck’s stomach. Moving boxes is one thing. Moving in is something else entirely.
This is the first place that Buck has ever lived in that he picked out for himself. He’s feeling a little precious about that. He doesn’t want someone else to decide which drawer his utensils should be in. He’s had enough of other people telling him where to put things.

Summary
One of Lois's favorite things about dating Clark, she muses, is seeing behind the scenes as he puts on the act, so to speak. She'd seen it before they started dating as friends, but it's different now to see him go from just Clark to Superman for a rescue, or to Clark Kent as they get ready for work.
Lois is familiar with disguises; as a journalist she's donned many to get where she needs to be, and seen through others to get to the bottom of a story. They're a normal and mundane part of her life. It shouldn't intrigue her so much to watch Clark slip into his various guises. Perhaps it's the lack of true deception, as odd as it sounds, that draws her in.

Evan stops in his tracks.
“Tommy,” he says, blinking like he’s trying to figure out if what he’s seeing is real. “What- what are you doing here?”
Waves of emotion pass over his face. The edges of his mouth pull up for a moment and then turn down the next, like he can’t settle on one feeling. He’s not upset to see Tommy, exactly, but he’s not happy either.
“I invited him,” Howie says. “I figured one extra set of hands is good, but two is better.”
The look Evan gives Howie is half betrayal, half bewilderment. His gaze keeps flicking back to Tommy—cautious and happy and terrified. Tommy feels much the same way. He wants to set Evan at ease. I come in peace. We have a common enemy.
