    I write a lot of AUs.
    I don't know what the difference is between an alternate reality and an alternate timeline is; so I say AU and what I actually mean is: I made it all up and just inserted a couple of established characters.

With Daniel back on Earth and the galaxy in an uneasy peace, Jack retreats to his house for some down time. Trouble is--General Hammond figures it's time for a talk. And later, after the General leaves, Jack's surprised by another visitor. One with golden hair and haunted blue eyes. They both have things they need to say, and things they need to hear.
