Summary
"Hoshina-" Kafka grits his teeth. Sucks in a ragged gasp of air. "I'm sorry."
The water bottle is pushed gently against his face, right along the fading tear tracks. Seconds stretch out only to shatter around them. Time a poignant wheel that won't stop turning in circles. What they need right now is a line to cross. But they're formless in the fallout. Still, Hoshina persists. Pushes back against the splintering moment.
“Come on. Drink."
It makes sense, that Hoshina would love as fiercely as he fights.

“I can’t join the Defense Force anymore, but I’m still gonna fight. Even if that means doing so on my own. Or as a kaiju.”
