Will turned again as though the turmoil in Hannibal’s heart had clamored loud enough for him to hear. They didn’t speak. They didn’t need to. What Hannibal might’ve said, the last thing he could’ve admitted to Will, did not pass his lips. Will strode to him and grasping Hannibal’s face in both hands, kissed him. Deep and hot with passion that did not surprise Hannibal but overwhelmed him. He’d known it would be this way, but he had never been prepared. Not entirely.

Unable to move, unable to think or speak, Hannibal simply lay there — panting, whimpering, and somehow still crying, tears wetting his cheeks, staining them. He was well and truly broken — every empty space, every new crack running through himself now filled with Will. The way Will could break him down and take over his very being like this would terrify him if it didn’t make him feel the most comfortable, loved, and safe he could ever remember feeling.
“So, so good my darlin’,” Will praised, “always so beautiful when you’re broken for me.”

Will feels the old guilt stirring, ugly and thick. But under it, there’s something else. Because even now, looking at the blood drying on Hannibal’s mouth, at the way he’s still holding Will’s gaze with something so open it aches to see, Will feels that same instinct flare up again. That pull. He’s never been looked at like that before. Not by anyone human, at least.
