She inhales sharply and tugs her hand back, though it feels like a loss to do so. Blue coughs, twice, throat a little dry.
Gansey traces across his own jawline with the same finger that had touched the plant. The way his eyes fall closed is languid and insinuating – insinuating what? "Jane," he breathes. "I feel strange."
Blue feels strange, too. The saturation in the clearing has been dialed up to 100 and everything is shiny and overflowing with color and life. "I know," Blue says, voice suddenly raspy. She turns and finds Gansey staring at her, eyes wide, hazel irises almost overcome with the unnatural enormity of his pupils. "Something…" Blue swallows. She clenches down on sudden heat pulsing insistently between her legs. Her hands twist together. "Something is different."
