    Geralt got to the top of the stairs, still trying to come up with something to do for Jaskier, and went to their door. He did not bother to knock before entering. But the sight he was met with made him stop in his tracks, any coherent thought vanishing from his mind. Jaskier was out of bed, but he was still wearing the pajamas he’d commandeered from Geralt months ago. He was sitting on the windowsill, staring out at the falling snow.

    And he was crying.

    He’s always wanted to go with Geralt. But when all of his subtle hints and then, as the years passed, not-so-subtle hints were missed and/or ignored, he’d given up hope of ever being invited. Kaer Morhen just wasn’t something that Geralt was willing to share with him, and Jaskier’d had to live with that. But Eskel is willing. He wants Jaskier to come with him. Share it with him.

    or, Eskel saves Jaskier when he's injured. They travel together, and Eskel brings him to Kaer Morhen without realizing Jaskier and Geralt used to be friends.
