"I didn't think you…" Jude swallows. "I thought you just flirted with all of the customers…"
"That would be wildly unprofessional of me, wouldn't it?" Alvin says, his voice a low drawl. "Only the cute ones."
"Oh…"
"How old are you anyway?" Alvin asks.
"Uhm…" Jude says again. "Eighteen?" He winces at his pause and the uncertainty in his voice. He'd practised the lie in the mirror two dozen times, but reality is different.
Alvin laughs, leaning in closer so Jude has to lean back a little, the wooden edge of the bar digging in his lower back.
"You wanna try that again, kid, with a little more conviction this time?"

He listens to the voices of the others, and it sounds as if they're coming from far away. He feels Alvin's gaze on him, unwavering, and he wants…

Jude edges forward, the room barely illuminated by tiny strips of moonlight. The tug in his chest is stronger than ever before, and he doesn't think. He doesn't feel. He doesn't cry.
He just slips under the covers and into the space between Alvin's open arms, his head tugged underneath Alvin's chin, the smell of gunpowder and coffee and musk. Alvin's hand finds the back of his head effortlessly.

“Shut up! Shut up, I do not!” Oikawa glances frantically at the hallway to the washroom even though he can literally hear the shower running.
“I don’t think you would deny it like that if it wasn’t true,” Kenma points out helpfully. Curse the socially-anxious induced perception skills he has. Oikawa glares at him and hopes Kenma can feel the bad vibes he’s sending over.
Kuroo gasps loudly as if he just found out that his whole life is a lie. “Is that why you and dickwad broke up? Because you’re in love with Iwa—”
“In love? What the fuck is wrong with you,” Oikawa hisses. “I am not in love with Iwa-chan.” And now that he says it outloud, it feels entirely untrue. Fuck. That’s not a good sign.
