“I’m…” Izuku pauses, trying to find the right words to further the conversation. “I’m so glad we’re friends, Kacchan. I think a lot of people would struggle to stay as close as we do without letting dating get in the way. It’s nice that we can be free from those things. You know? Just be us, together. The way we should have been years ago.”
And as Katsuki’s expression shuts down, going from soft and full of affection, to confusion, then annoyance and hurt, Izuku doesn’t even see it. He doesn’t even notice it.
Or, that time where Izuku accidentally rejects Katsuki. Like an idiot.
