An ingrained failsafe coding instance whereby a mech is reluctant to abandon a strategy or course of action because they have invested heavily in it - even when it becomes clear that abandonment would be more beneficial.
___Exhausted, depressed and shell-shocked, Skyfire finds himself struggling to adjust to the end of the war he had no choice but to take part in.
Unfortunately, his fractured sparkbond doesn’t seem to be helping, especially when the culprit - and his two trinemates - reappear back into his life.

Summary
Prince Starscream hasn't had it very lucky where his mental health is concerned.
His royal family staged a coup when he was just a few vorns old, and he's spent his life living through intense media scrutiny and the constant threat of assassination. His situation only worsens when, after graduating, the angry disposed nobles find him trining, not with their pawns, but with a known criminal.
Starscream wants out of Vos, and with the Iaconian border finally opening up it's looking like he's finally gotten his chance.
Meanwhile, Skyfire decides to attend university in Iacon to broaden his horizons. The newly-opened city of fliers is strange and interesting, but what's really interesting is his new lab partner, a peculiar and secretive Vosnian named Starstreaker.

Summary
"It isn't fair," Starscream’s voice cuts through the otherwise relative peace and quiet of their hab. He throws down a heavily crumpled piece of plastic and slumps dramatically onto the couch next to Skyfire. "Government issued trine matches are for losers that can’t get dates."
Starscream's issued a fresh new pair of trinemates and Skyfire missed his shot. At least, that's what he thinks before he meets them.
