Summary
'Bludhaven, unlike Gotham, was a quiet city. On patrol as Robin there had always been a gunshot to break the silence or a cry for help. Here she seemed to stumble upon crimes by accident. The victims all blank-faced and silent, as though accepting their fate and simply willing it to be over faster. It had surprised her the first couple of days here. Then she realized… Gotham made sound because the city expected someone to save it. Bludhaven was silent because it knew no one ever would.'
Nightwing has finally settled into a city of her own and is focused on becoming Bludhaven's newest protector.
Without the watchful eye of Batman over her shoulder, and with BPD actively against her, Rachel finds herself struggling to save a city that has no interest in being saved. As well as under the cross-hairs of a mysterious new villain, only known as Blockbuster.

“I’m fine.” The words came out on instinct and for a second Tim looked as though he wasn’t sure if he wanted to laugh or cry.
“You fainted. Do you have a concussion?” Three shaky fingers came into view, though Dick wasn’t sure if they were shaking because of him or because of Tim. “How many fingers am I holding up?” Part of Dick wanted to say twelve but he had a feeling the joke would not land on his intended audience.
“Three and I’m fine. I just stood up too fast.”

“What the fuck was that Dick?” Dick shifted slightly at the question, eyes flicking to the side in avoidance.
“It was nothing Jason, don’t worry about.”
“Are you fucking kidding me? What the hell are you talking about Dick, she hit you.” Jason knew he was being too harsh. In the back of his mind Bruce's training echoed dully reminding him that abuse victims didn’t respond well to aggression and would avoid direct questions.
But this wasn’t a victim. He reasoned with himself. This was Dick.

Dick couldn’t remember how it started.
He never could. After years of screaming matches and biting words being spat at one another in yet another round of anger induced verbal abuse, the fight always played out the same way. The days or weeks leading up to the inciting incident would be fraught with tension. Patience worn thin by a scathing criticism here and a sarcastic quip there. Starting with a failed mission or just exhaustion from a particularly rough batch of patrols. Bruce would get in a mood, as he was prone to do. Acting more like a prepubescent boy then a man in his 40’s. And Dick would do everything in his power to direct his Fathers ire onto himself, away from his siblings' notice. Sparing them B’s cruel streak.
And Bruce could be very cruel when he wanted to be.
