Summary
University student Nie Huaisang, who prefers his American name Ned Sang, is one thesis project away from an MFA in Fine Arts at Columbia. Then he finds out exactly why the ancient Chinese brush techniques he’s been learning this semester are so easy. If only he’d remembered just a bit sooner, he might not have unconsciously copied a painting from a Qing Dynasty book written by . . . Nie Huaisang.
Meanwhile, beneath Grand Central Station, something has been gathering the resentment created by the New York Transit subway system. Lan Zhan and Wei Ying, who always reincarnate with Huaisang, probably could suppress it, but both of them have disappeared. It will not be the first time that Nie Huaisang has tried to save them. But maybe this time he’ll actually be successful.
