Su Muqiu paused. True, it was just starting over. He had done it many times before—when his parents died and he and Mucheng were sent to the orphanage, when he discovered the orphanage was a front for trafficking so he took Mucheng and escaped, and when he woke up an eighteen-year-old in a twenty-eight-year old body, his legs crippled.
Starting over wasn’t new to him. Time might be limited, but why not strive for glory in what remained?
“Okay.” Muqiu looked up, determination glinting in his hazel eyes. “I’ll join Happy.”

Ye Xiu rapped his knuckles on the wall twice, shifting the bouquet in his arms.
“Come in!” called a voice.
Ye Xiu entered the room, navigating his way with familiarity. With his free hand, he took hold of the vase on the bedside and tilted his head as he considered the flowers. Hydrangea, he thought they were called.
“Hey, do you think hospital tap water would kill these?” Ye Xiu asked thoughtfully.
A snort. Ye Xiu lifted his gaze to find Su Muqiu seated in a wheelchair, his chin resting on a loosely closed fist. Early afternoon light streamed through the large windows, setting his light hair aglow. His face was paler than usual, and dark bruises of exhaustion were smudged under his eyes. There was a mild smile on his face.
“Who are those even from?” Su Muqiu asked.
