“Gin,” he asked that night. “I would like to purchase more suitable clothing.”
“Suitable for what?” she replied, not lifting her eyes from the torn pants she was sewing. Her training was different from his but just as physically intense if not more; Rashōmon could help him repair his own clothes but she had no such shortcut. He too could sew and wash clothing but his hours were longer than hers so she had taken up the task before he could offer.
He wasn’t even sure what she would choose to wear if she were given options. They essentially lived in their worn-out black and grey clothing.
“Suitable,” he repeated, more confident of his decision. “Let us go shopping.”

Summary
He couldn’t see anybody - they were crouching behind the dumpster to hide. There was only one way out of the alley, and that was past him. So he walked in. To his surprise, he saw no new splatters on the wall, but he could smell the evidence of the crime. He slowed down, not wanting to scare the criminal.
“What are you doing? Come on out,” he called. There was no reply, so Kunikida shrugged and went to apprehend the target personally.
Suddenly something lunged from the shadows and slammed into him. Kunikida instinctively grabbed at his assailant, missed, and then looked down, down…down to see a little girl clutching a can of spray paint. Realizing she had been caught, she immediately shoved the canister into her schoolbag and held up an empty shopping bag.
“TRICK OR TREAT,” she declared, staring at Kunikida as if she could convince him of her innocence through sheer brazenness.
“It’s November,” Kunikida said.

Halloween comes late to the Armed Detective Agency, and Kunikida's schedule suffers as a consequence.

Summary
Shortly after taking his position as Boss of the Port Mafia under suspicious circumstances, Mori had invited her for a private dinner all the way over in Ginza. She had dreaded a tedious mandatory social event with another narrow-shouldered black suit, and even worse, it was Mori-sensei. She dreaded meeting him in these particular circumstances, in a way. He had been quite tolerable as an occasional encounter in headquarters or at parties, but now he was her would-be employer and she had never met someone who didn’t change for the worse in some way when given authority.
She had made her position clear to him, she’d thought as she walked down the tree-lined streets and expensive storefronts, ignoring the curious looks she attracted with her clothing: she was nominally on his side because the Port Mafia and Yokohama would descend back into violent chaos without a firm hand on the wheel. But that didn’t mean she couldn’t have decided otherwise.
