"May I ask you a question?" he says, words slurred together, but in a perfectly polite, normal tone, as if they were old acquaintances. "Are you a porn star?"
Her mouth falls open, but she is not sure if she knows what she is supposed to answer. It feels like a test she hasn't studied for. Remaining quiet seems to be the right answer.
She shakes her head, side to side, unable to pretend he isn't talking to her. She brings her cup to her lips once more and wishes, not for the first time, that it was something stronger.

Summary
No one believes that Rey was assaulted by a stranger in the night, a monstrous alpha who always seems to be hunting her from the shadows. Perhaps because the security tapes from outside her dorm room revealed no intruders. Perhaps because her mother had once been prone to such paranoid delusions herself. Plagued by long nights of insomnia and desperate to avoid failing out of college, Rey accepts the pro bono services of Dr. Ben Solo, a local psychiatrist whose alternative methods seem strange to her at first, but miraculously begin to work.
Dr. Solo doesn’t present the nightmarish image of an alpha that Rey would ordinarily recoil from, and the pills he provides her with allow her to rest for the first time since the attack. But as they continue their sessions together, as Rey finds herself further and further isolated from her family and friends, as she is drawn inexplicably to the ever-nearing monster in her dreams, she begins to question if the man who brought her back from the edge has her best interests at heart.
