Jason clocks every tiny flicker as Clint’s eyes catch on the hooked scar on his cheek, the paper-thin white line across his throat, and the deep swath of skin that’s exposed by his shirt.“You don’t gotta go,” he says, and wow, James isn’t the only one with a practiced, panty-dropping accent. The twang has all but disappeared, replaced by something warm and husky that immediately brings tousled sheets and bare skin to mind. His shirt is sticking to him like a second skin, revealing peaked nipples and abs that are borderline obscene.
Jason freezes halfway off the barstool, the toes of his right foot barely on the ground.
Clint hooks his chin over James’ shoulder and looks Jason over even more thoroughly – and the first glance hadn’t been anything like careless. He hums as his eyes drag over where the wool of Jason’s pants has stretched tightly over his thighs. His hands creep around James’ waist, settle on his hips. He tilts his head a little, still evaluating Jason - for what, he doesn’t know.
“Oh,” he says, a handful of seconds later, sounding delighted. Like he’s discovered a secret. “This is the guy.”

Barnes snorts. “Having a drink,” he says, then gives Clint another one of those appraising looks. “You a professional?” he says, after a second, and Clint is momentarily confused.
A professional what?
And then he realizes Barnes must be talking about pool, and Clint huffs a laugh. “Only when there’s money involved,” he says, smirking, and Barnes kind of nods, like that makes any sort of sense.
Then Barnes nods again, a little more firmly, and says “You got a place?”
Which is about the point that Clint realizes that he’s not meeting the Winter Soldier in a bar, he’s being picked up by the Winter Soldier in a bar and-
“Yeah,” he croaks, clears his throat, thinks wildly that he’s really fucking glad Kate has Lucky for a few days, and says “Yeah, I got a place.”
Or, how Bucky got his groove back.

Bucky doesn’t know the name Whitesun. He doesn’t know a damn thing about Tatooine, except that it’s a thrice-damned desert planet in the middle of Hutt space, and they don’t deal with Hutts if they can help it, but he knows without a shadow of a doubt that that’s not the kid’s name.
Still, there’s no warning in the Force, though Bucky acknowledges his connection to it as little as possible. He wouldn’t ignore a warning. No, the Force feels… almost amused, if such a thing exists. With the kid so close, the dark, oozing sensation of Asusto is almost gone. Off his shoulders, at least, and only barely pressing at the edges of his mind. It’d be nice, if the kid’s burning presence didn’t put Bucky’s hackles up nearly as much.

Clint swallowed convulsively, but then his chin came up. “Bring it,” he taunted.
“Shouldn’ta said that,” Bucky muttered, loud enough for all of them to hear.
Jason raised one eyebrow.
“Actually –” Clint started, but Jason raised the other eyebrow expectantly and his jaw snapped shut.
“No apology?” Jason asked.
Clint’s mouth stayed stubbornly shut.
“No ‘I’m sorry, baby, I shouldn’t have kidnapped you’?”
“I’m sorry, baby, I shouldn’t have kidnapped you,” Clint said, slightly petulant.
“Hmm.” Jason pretended to think about it. “What about Bucky? No ‘I’m sorry, honey, I shouldn’t have hit you with my car’?”
“I’m sorry, honey, I shouldn’t have hit you with my car,” Clint parrotted flatly.

Summary
After winding up in hot water with the Ukrainian mob, Clint finds himself relocating to a small town in northern Indiana to work as an elementary school gym teacher, and finds his new home invaded by a series of suspiciously wolfish puppies determined to be Lucky's BFFs, and his life invaded by over zealously friendly neighbors determined to feed him. In a startling twist of events, three of his favorite students happen to be his next door neighbors, along with their ruinously hot single dad Bucky, who proves to be just as enamored of Clint as he is of Bucky.
What follows is a classic rendition of thirsting over the hot neighbor, bizarre small-town behavior, and so many puppies.

Bucky… is going to kill Clint. Suddenly all of Clint’s odd comments and strangely demure behavior and even his clothes start to make a kind of insane sense. He’s play-acting at more than just a first date. Clint’s pretending to be someone else entirely, and Bucky’s not sure if it’s a joke or a bad attempt at seduction, but either way a heads-up before the evening started would have prevented a hell of a lot of confusion and maybe prevented Bucky from nearly murdering his husband in a bar in Hell’s Kitchen on a Wednesday night.

Fate has it out for Clint Barton.
After a few too many heartbreaks, he's given up looking for his Soulmate; who needs happily ever after anyway? He’s perfectly content with his dog, his job, guarding eccentric billionaires, and drinking Natasha’s contraband vodka. Just ask anyone.
So he doesn’t think anything about inviting a random sex worker home for coffee to get him out of the cold - no need for any special company, thanks - because that’s just the decent thing to do. But when he keeps meeting Bucky again and again, it’s not fate he’s gotta worry about, it’s his heart.
Bucky’s just living his life. He’s got work he doesn’t hate, a degree program he loves, and and a side project out to prove Green Arrow's archery antics aren't possible outside the comics. He’ll meet his Soulmate when the time is right, but for now he’s content to wait.
But then his roommate pulls a Breaking Bad, leaving him caught up in an NYPD investigation, out of his regular work, and scrambling for a place to stay where his demon-cat won’t get them both evicted. Before he knows it, Clint is turning his whole life turned upside down, and Bucky thinks fate shouldn’t be tempting him.
