Summary
“It’s late, Scar.” Firm, but not forceful. Grian does not elaborate on what connotation ‘late’ may possibly entail. He leaves those thoughts resting in Scar’s hands. Scar blinks with sticky eyelids. He can smell something foreign in the air. Crushed lilac petals, maybe? Some kind of flower. It might not be lilac, but it’s tangled with his sweat.
“I guess so.”
“Doesn’t that bother you?”
It's not nice to hurt your friends on purpose so you can feed off their negativity, but that's never stopped Grian before.

So after some of the grand gestures and heroic speeches have been made, the first three statues of Belos have been toppled over, and most of the citizens have gone to sleep regardless of their political sympathies, there has still been a need for a more discreet gathering.
Lilith Clawthorne has proclaimed herself the official scribe, and nobody protested. Why would they, she was made for this job, and she’s an expert at color-coding. Her first decision has been to refuse writing down any of Edalyn’s puns, which is a shame, really, because they’re great, even though they seem to make Raine uncomfortable. The initial ‘situation got out of hand’ was funny. Even Lilith had to admit that. But she still refused to put it on record.
