I'm writing this bookmark 4 years after i read this fic, but its been on my "Favorite Fanfiction" excel spreadsheet ever since it was still updating. Unfortunately i can't remember every plot beat or scene in this wonderful work, but there is one thing that will never leave my head, ever.
The kiss scene between Sokka and Zuko has become my gold standard for building up and releasing romantic tension. GOD! I still get chills to this day thinking about how mesmerized i was during it. I don't want to say anything about it just because i want everyone to experience it themselves, let that be motivation to read this!!!

I cannot for the life of me remember how i first found this fic back in 2018. I wasn’t actively searching for fanfiction to read and Zukka had’t yet had a cultural boom in the fandom (at least i dont think so), if anything this might have been my first introduction to the ship. It made me feel a bit special when Zukka became the top ship in the fandom a while later, like i’d gotten there first, like i was right.
I loved the way the fic was written, it’s a back and forth letter correspondence between strangers that becomes so much more. I’d recommend Epistoles just because of the way it’s written honestly, but don’t misunderstand, the story is wonderful. A fun little fact, I had a reading assignment on the book The Sorrows of Young Werther and one of the reasons i was so excited to read it was that it was an epistolary, that’s directly because of this fic.
My memory is a bit fuzzy on the plot, because it’s truly been so long (i only just started bookmarking, otherwise i’d have done this much sooner), if i do find the time to reread it i’m sure i’d have more to say. But just the fact that Epistoles has stayed in my mind for 6 years after i’d read it is a pretty glowing review, eh?
