Ford shuddered. The hands responded immediately. They thrust their way past the cortex until they were wrist-deep in white matter. Ford felt his lips move, and maybe he'd said a word, or made a sound. He could hardly wonder.
Eight dexterous fingers wrapped themselves in axons, tugging at his senses like the strings of an endlessly complex marionette. Electrical signals stung his helpless fibers like tiny, muscle-deep cattle prods.
