Summary
If one cares enough to listen, then the world is never truly quiet. Sound permeates the world, the greatest proof of life. Sometimes discordant, sometimes melodious but that outcome never seemed intentional. Though if one cared enough to try, in cacophony and in quiet, they would find that the world was made of music. A brilliant tapestry of lyric, melody, bass and chord layered over each other that told the story of people. Not one song that united everything in a vast orchestra but many solos that were carefully and lovingly crafted to stand alone, come together and come apart. Not a second, not a note would be put to waste, even if no one would ever hear their tune.
But Jiro Kyoka didn't have to strain to hear sound in the silence. She didn't have to try to make a song out of sound. And didn't need to be told that the world was not an orchestra. Because she could hear it all, the songs that not even the universe thought would ever be heard rang loud and clear in her head. And eventually, when the universe heard her when it became aware of its one-woman audience, it began to compose its pieces with her in mind. A helping hand, if only so she could hear them play a little longer, and she called them the Soundtrack.

Title is from "The Uses of Sorrow" by Mary Oliver, purely because I think any day someone reads even a single line of a Mary Oliver poem is a good day.
