The pounding came again. Nicky’s hands dropped to his apron, absentmindedly wiping the butter off his hands as he walked to the door. He looked through the peephole to make sure it wasn’t a mugger or robbers.
He would’ve been less surprised if it was the Queen herself.
Tall, unfortunately handsome, his shirt and apron soaked through in the rain and his curls dripping over his head. Nicky blinked but nope, it was still his arch-nemesis. Nicky rocked back on his heels, wondering why on earth Joe Al-Kaysani would be at his back door in the middle of the night.
