Summary
“Lena! Hey!” Kara’s voice comes pouring through the phone, and Lena feels her shoulders relax. “I was actually just about to call you. What’s up?”
It’s funny, Lena thinks then, how the knots in her chest ease around Kara. Her world has always been full of uncertainties, fleeting moments of happiness snatched away when she gets too comfortable. But with Kara, it feels stable, less lonely, like maybe one day she could allow herself to breathe, if Kara’s around.
“Oh yeah?” Lena can’t help but smile, pressing the phone closer to her ear as if it’ll help her absorb some of Kara’s warmth. “I was just going to ask if you wanted to come over for a movie night this weekend, I, um—” Lena pauses, rubbing her free hand over her sternum, “I could use the company.”
“Oh, that’s... kind of why I’m calling, actually,” Kara says, then falters. It’s soft, and it’s hesitant, and Lena’s shoulders sag, but then— “Alex and I are going to Midvale for a few days, and I thought maybe you’d like to come.”

Summary
“Hi.”
A slender hand curled into the lapel of her trench coat and drew her close.
“Oh.” Kara’s heart fluttered in her chest as she followed the gentle tug into a soft kiss.
Lena’s lips were just as warm and soft as she remembered, drawing curls of affection to twine about her ribs.
“Hi.” Kara echoed again through a kiss that sent her last vestiges of control straining.
Lena laughed low in her chest as she smiled against her lips, and Kara decided it was one of the most delicious sounds she had ever heard. “I missed you today.”
Kara blushed, daring to smooth her hands over her hips. The leather was warm under her palms and it made her feel free. “I couldn’t stop thinking about you. And Jack. And last night. Lots of things, really. Please stop me from rambling out of nerves-”
Her last syllable was mercifully lost into another kiss before she could embarrass herself and Kara already could feel heat thrumming through her body. Down her spine. Pooling in her hips. Lena started walking her back into the loft but stayed close.
Or,
Night two.

Summary
“I’m not wearing the shoes.”
“You can wear your own shoes.”
Lena looked down at her house slippers. “These are Boss.”
Kara took a sip of her smoothie. “Then we’ll take it easy.”
They didn’t take it easy. Ten minutes in, Kara was moving with casual precision, tapping balls just out of Lena’s reach, smiling like she wasn’t being infuriating on purpose. Lena was sweating lightly, hair sticking to the back of her neck, and cursing every life decision that had led her to this moment, including - but not limited to - dating an overachiever with natural hand-eye coordination.
OR
Kara turns out to be a pickleball prodigy, determined to make CatCo the national champions of the corporate league. Lena turns out to have an irrational hatred toward William Dey, determined to get Andrea to fire him.
