Being a couple with Kakashi. Like that’s a normal mission for Iruka to get sent on. Pretend to be a couple undercover with the man he would like to date if he thought Kakashi would ever look his way.

Summary
“Iruka fell asleep in my bed,” Naruto complains. “But I wasn’t tired.”
“Oh?” Kakashi asks. This wouldn’t be the first time that Iruka has gone in for a bedtime story and come stumbling out an hour or two later, rubbing sleep from his eyes. Kakashi doesn’t know how he manages it; Naruto is not a peaceful sleeper by any stretch of the imagination.
“The poor guy was really tuckered out,” Naruto says, a perfect imitation of Iruka, and Kakashi doesn’t bother hiding his smile. He’d probably mind Naruto having a favourite parent more if Iruka wasn’t his favourite, too.
(or: Iruka's longer-than-usual work hours are making him exhausted and cranky, so Naruto and Kakashi assign themselves the important mission of getting him to take some time off. Predictably, it goes a little sideways.)
