“What I don’t understand is why she had to die,” he said unthinkingly.
“Ha! You’re getting into it now!”
“If you’re going to insist on watching the damn things ten times a week, I can’t be blamed for noticing bits of them,” he replied sourly, leaning on the countertop. “But they bring him back in the next film, don’t they? Why not her, too?”
“The movie-verse explanation is that she was at peace.”
“Dying for a man who could barely pat her on the head in thanks? Oh, yes, very peaceful. Positively euphoric.”

Years ago, I wrote Catch the Wind, a Norrington/Modern!OC fic -- and then a friend floated the idea of an AU where James is the modern one, thrown into the POTC universe, and the OC, Theodora, is the canon movie character fated to die. And I'm powerless to resist suggestions like that. SO, here we have a modified version of POTC where Norrington is not a character in canon events, and THEN a fic within that where he *is* thrown into the story, trying desperately to save the life of the woman he finds himself falling in love with. It's going to be a behemoth, buckle up, maybe read Catch the Wind if you want full context, but it won't be vital!

Summary
"His head was on her arse. Gandalf was dead. Satan was real. Aragorn was confessing his feelings and she could feel wind on her bum cheeks. Nothing about this was okay. Could he have not given her at least three business days to prepare for this sort of thing? She wanted a nap and a bath and a big bloody glass of wine. Maybe even a wee lobotomy to scrape out the horrors she’d witnessed today."

Beautiful, clever, rich — Maeve Dashwood is perfectly content with her privileged life in London and sees no need for an ambitious career or marriage.
Grubby, useless, terrified — Maeve Dashwood can dig her heels in all she likes, but when destiny comes calling, the Valar will drag her kicking and screaming. Facing a new world of horrors while suffering the graphic withdrawals of modern comforts and medicine, this reluctant and extremely unqualified heroine might be Middle Earth’s only hope. Eru take pity on them all.Series

He woke with a jolt, sitting in the Impala on some backroad with Sammy sleeping shotgun. Like always. Only no, not always. They had a bunker now. They had a home. Maybe Dean had finally lost it. That, or Cas pulled one hell of a Hail Mary, because his little brother looked about ten years younger and his phone was saying it was 2005. TIMELINE AU

Summary
From a prompt on the kink-meme: "Thorin's company escapes the goblin tunnels, they are chased by the wargs and they take refuge in the trees. But when Azog shows up it turns out he has no intention of killing them. He has been fantasizing about Thorin ever since the dwarf cut off his arm, and now he has every intention of proposing to the love-of-his-life in a proper orc-fashion...
So, instead of attacking Azog starts courting Thorin (much to everyone's horror), reciting orc poetry, singing morbid love songs accompanied by the howling wargs and professing his undying love for his beloved foe, combining threats and promises. Thorin is thoroughly disgusted, the older dwarves are outraged and the young ones are barely suppressing laughter, while Gandalf is disturbingly pragmatic about the whole situation. Bilbo is just scared."
The fill went slightly sideways from the prompt. Enjoy.

"It was a person. Which was weird and scary but also intriguing and asked him why why why like a three year old who'd just learned the word. The fog cleared a little more and made the mystery even more intriguing because, hi, yes, glacier man had a metal arm. "Well," he muttered at that because it wasn't just some vague approximation of a human limb like most prosthetics. He hardly believed it was real metal at first, maybe some kind of weird paint job, but no. The symmetry with the right arm was exact, and a thousand more questions popped into his head-
"Well what?" Pepper asked a few steps back and Tony froze. Well, 'froze' seemed like such a strong word as he leaned over a man literally encased in ice but language was a funny thing."
Or: Due to the most bizarre clerical error ever, Tony Stark ends up buying the Winter Soldier. Of course he doesn't ask for a refund on something so interesting as a metal-armed cyborg, especially not when it starts spouting off about enforcing the will of the supposedly long-dead supernazis his dad helped defeat in WWII. Things only get more complicated when Captain America is thawed out but Tony's always been good with complicated.
