Summary
The first time Sebas heard the name Vera Perez, it was followed by laughter. A quiet, shy sort of laugh that came from the back of his classroom—five years old, curls wild and paint on her sleeves, trying to hide the fact that she’d drawn a sun with a face on her math worksheet.
“Vera,” he said gently, crouching beside her desk. “That’s very creative, but I think the sun is happier on the art table, don’t you think?”
She nodded solemnly, dimples pressing into her cheeks. “I like happy suns,” she said, and then—like it was a secret—“My papa says I make good ones.”
Sebas smiled, not knowing yet that her papa was Roque Perez—the same man plastered across billboards downtown, muscles and mud, the face of Argentina’s rugby triumphs.
He didn’t know that the man rarely made school runs himself, that the nanny usually appeared with a soft apology and a thermos of tea, or that every time the class painted, Vera always saved one picture to bring home to him.
At that point, Sebas just thought she was a bright, kind kid with a big heart.
He didn’t expect the way that one small girl—and the father who came with her—would quietly rearrange the rhythm of his life.Bookmarked by RightsForHimbos

Summary
"It ain't true." The lanky looking man next to him said, whose face was about a palm's distance away from him. "Y'know. What she said. 's your own bin. They ain't sleepin' in it."
"Excuse me." It was abrupt and definitely questionable in terms of manners, but Reynauld had enough. Tonight was already packed with unpleasant excitement, he wasn't going to stoop as low as allowing himself a pub therapy after the previous spectacle. He counted the exact amount of cash and set his glass over it. That ought to be clear enough.
Now, the man finally got it. He had the decency to raise his glass as a kind of acknowledgement. Reynauld nodded at him with polite disdain and walked out without looking back.

Summary
This neverending cycle of gravitation and overcorrection—it was something that no one deserved to endure at his hands, surely. Whatever twists of fate the future might hold, and whatever actions Reynauld might someday feel compelled to take in the name of safeguarding his eternal salvation, he thanked the Light daily that Dismas hadn’t already left him for dead in one of these dungeons just to be through with it all.
It would be a fitting punishment, Reynauld figured; lenient, even. For all that he’d done, all that he wanted, all that he was.
