"Drift, don't you know? Christmas is in just a few days! You know, I got so caught up in being a vampire and our travel plans that I almost forgot to start setting up. We need to get a head start since we're in a new space. Like, I had the foundations for everything worked out in my head at home, but I need a whole new plan if I'm going to be spending Christmas here. I think that with us being vampires and everything, this is finally gonna be the year!"
The nice, engraved fountain pen she bought for Sausage has slid out of its packaging. Drift shifts onto her hands and knees to tuck it back into the bag. "What do you mean, this is gonna be the year? Why is there flour on the floor?"
Shelby's scoff is so packed with dismissal that for a second, Drift believes that it really is obvious, and that she's the one being weird. "Oh, come on. The year we catch Santa!"

Elle walked down the path, frowning down at the old, faded map in her hands. “Paths to Oakhurst” is written in old-fashioned, fancy script in the corner. It wasn’t all that helpful, because a good quarter of the map had “DO NOT GO TO OAKHURST” scrawled in frantic, blood-red letters, a desperate warning that Elle was purposefully not listening to.
But she’d put together all the clues, all the conversations she’d had with Avid before she’d… All of them pointed to Oakhurst. She’d been trying to go there beforehand, anyway, when she got bitten; it would make sense if that's where he decided to go.OR: Elle arrives at Oakhurst, mere days after the conflict was resolved and everyone left. Now she must try to figure out what happened here... and find her missing partner. If he's still alive...

A month after Apo left Oakhurst, she watches her hometown from a distance, not ready to face Cherri, not ready to face the monster she feels she has become. But there are other vampires outside Oakhurst, and one of them needs her help to survive. Against their will, Apo is caught between humans and vampires once again. Can she save another from her fate, when she can't even save herself? Or might trying to protect and trust another vampire, despite everything, help her make sense of what she's been through?

"What is that."
"Um." He blinks once, twice and looks away before the third one. Unable to stand how Scott watches him, unblinking in his intensity. "A nest?" Scott's irritation doesn't wane with his answer, if anything — if possible — it only grows stronger. "My nest?" He tries instead.
He looks back into the corner he had claimed as his, a good few feet from his bed and tucked cosily into the corner, safe. The bed he had been gifted, in all its bare-mattressed glory, sat squarely in the centre of the room, exposed on all sides. His nest had walls all around, nestled comfortably where they converged, right in the junction so he can push himself back into the wall and feel secure. Surrounded on all sides and eyes on the door, comforted, even if it's nothing but cold, unfeeling brick.
"That," Scott spits, no small amount of venom in his voice, "is not a nest."
