As ancient wounds crack open and a world unseen bleeds with forgotten purpose, the Herald’s very existence threatens to splinter a Chantry only recently made whole again. Now, with rifts splitting open the seams of sane reality, the Herald must bind her fractured self, accept her gifts, and choose what in this dying world will survive—even if it costs her very soul.

This alone would not have been enough to throw him, but for the fact she glared up at him with familiar golden eyes. “I knew it.”
If Justice had not been holding him up, his knees would have hit the ground. "Cara? Is that you?"

After the events at Adamant, Cara Hawke-Laidir gives her Inquisition babysitters the slip and travels across the Hinterlands on a quest to save her mother. She'll have to summon all her strength and find both her fathers to get her back.

A deadly encounter with a noble human sparked off a journey Caden never expected, tearing her from her family in the process. Caden must learn to trust again, battling her demons from her previous life, possibly even finding a new family if she can stop resisting her fellow Wardens attempts at kindness.
(Content Warning: there is an attempted sexual assault early on as per the city elf origin details, and it leads to some flashbacks throughout the story)
