The man was filthy. The beds of his nails were blackened with dirt. His pale hair was greasy and limp, his lips were dry and cracked, and his face was incredibly gaunt. He wore threadbare boxers and a tank top that hung loosely from his pallid and skeletal chest, and his feet were bare, the soles brown from walking on the street. He sat with Wyll's scratchy blanket clutched around his shoulders with one hand, and with the other he pressed the blade of a paring knife to Wyll's throat.
And so Wyll kept his eyes trained dutifully on the road.
Wyll goes for a late night drive to clear his head. Astarion needs to get as far away as possible — fast.

Frank had subconsciously filtered him out as the newest highlight in the endless parade of walking muscle caught in the orbit of the Stark business, but, now that he’s looking, he can see that this kid’s out of his territory.
That’s a Gotham Knights shirt under his beat-up leather jacket. And the outline of a bat, sleek and stylized, is branching across his shoulders.
Well, Frank thinks, raising his eyebrows. Alright, then.

Summary
They don’t usually work together, Gotham and New York. There are reasons for that. Maria Stark and Thomas Wayne brokered a reasonable approximation of peace a decade or so back, but Martha butchered her way through the East Coast when Thomas was murdered, and that armistice, shaky as it was, never really recovered.
So it’s funny that Jason’s here. And it’s funny that Barnes is here.
And it would be funnier, probably, if it weren’t so damn obvious that the reason Bruce Wayne sent Jason and Tony Stark sent Barnes is that they are, the both of them, the most expendable of their respective inner circles.

“Mood swings” is something that’s easier to conceptualize on paper. Tidily packed into a list of side-effects, something that’s easy to imagine and visualize. Temporary misbehaviors, brief and quickly returning to normal.

“Stop.” The man in the purple suit says, and Jason freezes.
“Stay there.” He says. “Don’t move.”
Jason tries to lurch forward, has some half-prepared snark about being told what to do, and he finds that he can’t. He can’t even move his arms. His eyes dart around the empty warehouse. Fuck. “Who are you?” Jason demands. “What is this?”
The man doesn’t even look over at him. “Stop talking.”
