He groans, slams the laptop shut and drops his head on the desk. He just wants to graduate. Two more terms, and he's done. Two more terms and he's got the degree and maybe an internship if he plays his cards right and then a real job. A big kid job. The phrasing makes a hollow laugh stick in his throat, but nothing is really funny right now.

Pete kisses him open-mouthed, pushing his tongue in Ray’s mouth, elbow pressed against the mattress. He feels Ray’s hand snake across his arm, thinking he’s distracted with the kiss, in an attempt to take the camcorder in his grip. Pete pulls away and looks at Ray’s pink cheeks. “Ah, ah.”
Focus on me, Ray thinks. It’s been weeks since their last playhouse date. Pretending to be lovers, then wiping the slate the next time they meet. He doesn’t know why he still stays in this arrangement. A speck of desperation shows up in his voice. “Please.”
Pete puts the camcorder down. "Okay, baby."
Or: Pete wants to record Ray while having sex, and Ray figures things out about himself, slamming Pandora’s box open.

“Oh, nice! That must be Art’s roommate. I haven’t gotten to meet him yet,” Olson points out, and Ray swallows and frowns as the other guy trailing closely behind Art comes into view. If Art is striking, the other guy is magnificent.
Ray has known plenty of guys to size each other up and gauge what types of things they may have to compete for - girls, wealth, success. Who’s stronger, smarter, more attractive? Ray feels suddenly unsettled in his presence, maybe a little self-conscious, but he’s felt the sting of jealousy before. This isn’t that. He doesn’t feel competitive. He’s not sure what it is he’s feeling.
OR: Ray meets his friend's new roommate and falls instantly and inexplicably in love.
