Summary

A brilliant burst of light blinded her, and she felt her body burning up in the microseconds it took for the energy wave to hit her. Time seemed to slow to a crawl. She hardly understood what Vendetta meant, 'whence it all began', how it would destroy the Reapers, or if her death would be painful. She hoped not; she thought she deserved a little more than that, after all that she'd sacrificed.
She smiled as it all went dark.
Lieutenant Commander Janine Shepard woke with a start, her lips parched, and her hair matted in sweat. She brought up her omni-tool and displayed the time: 5:27, 17th of March, 2183.

And Jane, Liara's beloved, just almost died on the line of duty – once again. Liara was fully aware that Jane had to do all that. That it was her duty. But it never could soothe the pain in Liara's heart. And today the scary and terrible Shadow Broker stopped being able to continue to keep all her fears hidden.
