Summary
Grians heart was beating out of his chest, beating against their rips.
He was there.
He was alive and well and sitting across the table from them intact.
He was laughing and making jokes with Impulse and Pearl like he wasn't choking on his own blood just last night.

.Grian works at a library, restocking shelves and signing out books. His late nights are fulled with friends and horrible horror movies.
Other mornings are fulled cooking, the smell of cooking meat fulling up the apartment with songs on in the background. Late nights are spent watching gory dark web videos or hunting out on the streets looking for a meal.
All in all, Grians just a normal guy, living his life just how anyone else would. It definitely doesn't eat people or have a strange, unnatural interest in gore and blood. Hes just like anyone else, just like any other guy who works at a library and hangs out with friends.

Summary
The man hovering over him leaned back, releasing Grian completely. Cold night air rushed in to fill the void.
“I guess it’s out in the open now,” the stranger hummed. “Shame. I wanted to avoid this.”
With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.
This man wasn’t a civilian, wasn’t even a hero.
“Hello, Doctor,” the villain mused. “You were quite the help today.”

Grian is a vet. After a chance encounter in the dead of night, during which he accidentally saves a villain from the brink of death, he suddenly finds himself entangled in a world beyond anything he could've ever imagined.

Summary
The day after Scar breaks up with Grian, the dead come back to life. Knowing that venturing out alone is a death sentence, the sudden onset of the apocalypse forces them to stick together despite the tensions between them. In the wreckage of the world, they're forced to survive side-by-side, coming to terms with the fact that—try as they might—there's no one they trust more than each other.
“Go!” Grian shouts as the monster charges, putting his whole force into the blow.
Scar watches, frozen stiff as Grian fights until blood and gore and viscera mark the creature up like a Pollock painting.
“What are you waiting for?!” Grian snaps when he finally notices that Scar is still standing there. He grips his weapon tight and attacks a final time, slamming the zombie down—good and dead—and standing panting over top of it, strained but victorious. He starts rushing from the scene, calling back for Scar over his shoulder. “Run!”
And in a way that’s as familiar to him as breathing, Scar chases after him.
