As soon as he feels the hand put the slightest bit of pressure on his right eye, still covered with something, Triton jerks up-
And immediately regrets it when all the blood rushes up and leaves him so dizzy he doesn’t even fight when two hands pull him back down again.
Someone above him huffs a laugh.
Oh. He knows that particular laugh.
That’s Neptune. Which means that the warm body his head is resting on is Neptune’s lap.
Which.
This is a little too close for Triton’s taste.
Listen. He’s known the blue planet for eons. In all that time, the closest he’s ever been to him was when he first crash landed in his orbit. When he’d been so injured that Neptune’s weird ancient magic was the only thing that could hope to heal his cracks upon that rough entrance.
And that was ages ago. Case in point, the very first thing the moon does with this newfound knowledge is roll away.
Stop, drop, and roll, he thinks a little feverishly.
The injuries are probably getting to him.
Or: post asteroid dodgeball, Triton is healing and Neptune is breaking

"I can buy you the whole damn city, old sport; anything you can possibly dream of," Gatsby whispers feverishly into Nick's ear, pressing a kiss to the other man's temple. "The New Amsterdam Theatre, Central Park Zoo, even....hell, even Lady Liberty, baby."
Nick laughs and shakes his head, the liquor still warm in his throat and causing the world around him to spin too fast. If it weren't for Gatsby's arms around his waist, he'd surely be laying in a heap on the ground.
"You don't need to buy me anything, Jay," he insists softly, feeling as if he's said such a thing too many times to count now.
"But I could. I could buy-"
Nick shakes his head again, turning around in Gatsby's arms and silencing him with a a lopsided smile and a sloppy kiss.
"You could, yes, but you don't have to. In fact...in fact you could sell this grand palace of yours, Jay, and....and lose all of your damned money in the stock market, and I'd still want you."
Gatsby doesn't respond, looking torn between disbelief and tears.

And Octavius's got that distant look in his eyes. Jedediah remembers - it's the same look he had when they'd stumbled, one foot in front of the other, leaning on each other as they fought their way back to the museum after crashing into snow taller than themselves; the same look when Jedediah had tumbled out of the hourglass, seconds away from death, and then again when he'd enveloped Octavius in a bone-crushing hug, too giddy from their victory to really process the bursting ache in his heart; and then, when they'd said their final goodbyes, quiet words and half-hidden feelings even while alone in a museum so accustomed to life.
And damn him, because when Jedediah thinks about it like that, he must be crazier than a bessie bug to have not realized it earlier.or: in which Jedediah gets darted - and it turns out to be quite the enlightening experience.

Or, Darry knows he hasn't been a perfect guardian (far from it). He's got plenty of regrets. So when he finds himself thrown backwards in time, reliving all his past mistakes, he realizes this might be his chance to fix things once and for all.
