Summary
Rebecca Welton has had her name at the top of the UK billboard charts since she rose to fame in early adulthood. Decades later, and for the first time, she hasn't put out a new single following her husband's divorce of nearly 11 years. Now, the only time her name is in the news is when it's followed by the word 'Old' and isn't even accompanied by a picture of her. This should make her angry and motivated to put a new song out for her label. Except the label she's a part of is owned by her ex, and she wants nothing more than to burn it to the ground. With a European leg of a tour coming up, she decides there's no better way to ruin Rupert than by destroying the image he made for her. Ever since Jayce met Viktor, sleep went more often than it came. Often times it was because the pair stayed up working until they could see the the sun rising outside the tall windows of the lab. Now though, it was because Jayce couldn't close his eyes without seeing Viktor's near lifeless body on a bed next to him, the whirring of the mechanical ventilation just as haunting.
Jayce was justified in visiting Viktor's apartment at this hour, he had a brilliant breakthrough and he had to tell Viktor. It couldn’t wait anymore, Jayce couldn’t wait anymore, not when time may not be on their side.
Jayce knew it may not exactly be a scientific breakthrough, but it's a breakthrough nonetheless.
