Aril laughed as she collapsed onto the ground, laughing while she lay on the grass next to her friend once they finished their carefree dancing around in a field near her home. The view of the sun setting and the stars beginning to shine reflected in Marianne’s eyes when Aril looked her way before looking back up at the sky and closing her own eyes, letting out a content sigh. So, this is what having a best friend is like, huh, she thought to herself. The two girls laid there peacefully before Aril heard Marianne let out a deep sigh, causing Aril to open her eyes and look over at her friend once again. When she did, she could see a small frown and a melancholy look in her eyes as the stars continued to shine in their reflection. The periwinkle chameleon flipped herself onto her stomach and propped herself up on her elbows, looking over at the blonde hedgehog with curiosity.

“I was only looking for you…” He begins as he stops barely a foot away from the doctor. Will reaches out to grab Hannibal’s wrist. Hannibal allows Will to guide his hand as the brunet lifts his shirt just above his stomach revealing the scar that was so lovingly left there as a reminder. A reminder of who he was forever entwined with until the two should both meet their end.
“...so that I could thank you for your wonderfully heartfelt parting gift.” The words hang in the air as Will presses Hannibal’s hand to the raised line of scarred skin on his stomach, never looking away from the older man.[Edited]

Hannibal's response was silence — at least for a moment. Then, a shuffle of fabric. Hannibal had sat down next to Will by the fire. Hannibal Lecter, the oh so composed and dignified man; a man capable of great violence, was sitting on the floor next to Will, looking small. But that was okay. They had seen the best of each other; they had seen the worst of each other. It hardly mattered. But it did. It was this gesture of little importance, yet great meaning, which coaxed a smile from Will.
