Summary
Jayce's life wasn't great, but it was good enough -- he had a job as an engineer at the trainyard, a little house in Piltover that he'd inherited from his parents, and a silver pocketwatch that had been a gift from Mel, the smuggler who was his friend and occasional fling. That all changed when his train was robbed and Jayce himself was taken for ransom. Chained to a bed in the clinic, Jayce is prepared to hate the doctor aiding and abetting his imprisonment, but he soon learns that not everything in the small mining town of Zaun is controlled by the criminal gang that makes its headquarters there.
As the only man in Zaun with any real medical training, Viktor has his hands full. If it isn't miners falling prey to old and failing equipment and an utter lack of regard for safety by the mine's owners, then it's the roughneck crew of criminals who keep the town running. There's got to be a better way to live, but Viktor is too exhausted and overworked to figure it out. He's definitely too busy for romance, and even if he had the time, it wouldn't be with the naive and annoying Piltie who's been dumped into his lap while the Eye and the Hound decide how to squeeze a ransom out of the man.

Summary
When five-year-old Jayce asks Santa Claus to bring him a boyfriend for Christmas, Santa tells him that it just won't be possible, not for years and years, thereby confirming Jayce's suspicions that Santa isn't real. A real Santa, he reasons, could do anything,, even bring Jayce's destined true love to him.
But perhaps young Jayce's heartbreak is premature, and perhaps Santa's Workshop is even weirder and more wonderful than Jayce could know. Twenty years later, he wakes up Christmas morning to find a man in his mother's kitchen who claims to be his boyfriend wish come true. Viktor was, he explains to Jayce, literally created to be Jayce's soulmate.
Which, Jayce realizes, means that Viktor had no choice in the matter.

Summary
“Of course, there was no way in Hell that Viktor would ever be able to shift the memory: Jayce’s weight and warmth hovering between his legs, half-lidded eyes and shaking breath. The way his lips tasted like sweet lip balm and his mouth tasted like shitty beer. Clumsy and inexperienced, Jayce had moved against Viktor like he was trying not to drown: frantic and afraid and desperate desperate desperate.”
In the moments before a revelation, Viktor ruminates on the dichotomy of love and power.

Summary
"No, still Fenton," he admitted, "Can I ask you for a favor?"
"Is it ghost-related?" Valerie asked back.
"....kinda?"
"Hm. Not good enough. Have fun with whatever, but I'm going back to sleep," she said, but just before she could hang up, Fenton finally stopped beating around the bush and said.
"Wait, wait, wait! It's not for me. It's for Dani."
*****
Or: Post D-Stabilized, Valerie is on pretty awkward terms with most of Team Phantom. Unfortunately, she's got a soft spot for Dani, so when she's invited to the Halloween fair, she gears up for a tense day with her fellow ghost hunters. She isn't expecting that'd she's actually have fun.
Featuring: fun carnival activities, team bonding, and tons of healthy communication.

Summary
As Jayce looks at Viktor, his thin figure backed by the huge drawing of the Hexcrystal, he realizes that maybe the problem is that other people think Viktor doesn’t deserve to be confident. It’s surprising to them, wrong-seeming, when he doesn’t wilt under their gaze.
***
Jayce understands, in this AU he just starts understanding earlier.
