Summary
Stede picks up where they left off. A chapter about the moon and its phases. It’s an unusual bedtime story, but nothing else about this moment is very normal, so it’s alright.
Tea long forgotten, Stede reads until Ed’s breathing evens out. Then for a few more minutes to make sure he’s really asleep.
When he looks down, Ed’s eyes are closed. Worry lines have evened out in sleep. It’s a bit of an awkward angle, but Stede leans in and presses a soft kiss to Ed’s nose.
“Sleep well, my dear.”
