It was tiny and could have been mistaken for a birthmark on my arm right here.” She brushed her left bicep where her patters had started. “But they spread, and when Celine took me in even though I only had a few small lines on my arm she knew what I was. She told me that I must never let anyone see.” Rumi felt her chest grow tight and she instinctively wrapped her arms around herself as if to protect her heart from the pain that lived there. “I hid. My whole life I hid. And I trained. I had one purpose. Celine promised me that once the Honmoon was sealed everyone would be safe and I would be free of my patterns.” Rumi felt a tear glide down her cheek. “That once it was sealed, I would be fixed.” Her voice cracked on the last word. Fixed. What did that even mean any more?
