Summary
It takes longer than it should for him to realize he was born wrong, but not as long as it would have for any other child. As it is, he comes to this realization at age eight, staring out of a window. The sky is blue, gentle clouds rolling through over the sunny spring day.
It’s not a day he would forget, if he could forget anything at all. The day the static sparked into his life was the day it began the vicious unwinding of the careful balance he’d resided in before. People already don’t like children who complain or ask questions; Osamu has the dubious pleasure of discovering just how much they dislike children who ask questions about things that aren’t real.

- Maybe perfection didn’t exist, but this little slice of life? The things he felt in this apartment? The feeling that bloomed in his chest when the Fushiguro’s smiled at him? That was something he would argue was close to perfection.
- Megumi was such a strong kid that Gojo had forgotten that it was part of being a kid to get overwhelmed with emotion sometimes and actually break down like this. The kid was six, maybe seven, at this point - Gojo couldn’t quite recall - and sensitivity and understanding would be absolutely key in the handling of this. Two of the things that Gojo Satoru definitely wasn’t known for.
- Megumi woke up in the middle of the night to a loud crash coming from the kitchen. Gojo wasn’t in the bed anymore and his heart instantly raced. He was scared. He hated being scared. But that loud noise followed by complete silence? What if something bad happened? What if Gojo was hurt? Panicking, he hopped off Gojo’s bed and made his way down the hall, clasping his hands together the way he had practised many times before.
