Whatever carefully blank expression Lestat is trying on disappears like a slap. “Armand made a fledgling. Why would he do that?” Lestat asks.
“Oh, you know,” Louis says, watching the three dots of a new text pop up. “He knew Daniel was… important to me.”
He means to say it with rueful annoyance, as if to say, “so he ruined him.” But as Daniel’s text comes in—the most important question I should have asked you in that fucking interview: where do you buy coke in Dubai?—Louis’s voice trails off, his words maybe lacking some of the bite.

Summary
Following the discovery of Armand's manipulation and deception, Louis seeks clarity and control over his own mind and memories. Louis is confronted with an avalanche of epiphanies, including the fact that Lestat isn't the one holding grudges. They embark on a new life, one that is kind, gentle and includes Lestat on a world tour. Despite Lestat's forgiveness and their recent happiness, Louis finds himself haunted by feelings of guilt and anger. Rather than repeat mistakes of the past, Louis decides to confront his emotions and does something completely crazy: he asks for help. When our two favorite vampires travel to an isolated retreat with their lovely, patient therapist, they are stalked by a family of mysterious vampires who are unaware of their shocking connection to Lestat. “Did he cheat on your again?” Daniel asked, not mincing his words. Louis shook his head. “Made you kill someone?” Another shake of the head. “He sucks in the sack and not in the fun way?” Whatever expression passed over Louis’ face was enough for Daniel to figure it out all at once. “Ah. There is it.” He shook his head and murmured to himself, “It always starts in the bedroom.”
